Born in Eritrea and raised in Germany, Selamawit Mekonen is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work embodies the intersection of heritage, migration, and identity. Currently based in Los Angeles, Mekonen weaves her lived experiences into a rich tapestry of Afrocentric imagery, abstraction, and storytelling. Her art delves deeply into themes of belonging, resilience, and the complexities of diasporic existence, creating pieces that resonate across cultural boundaries.
